Geelong Cemeteries Trust is delighted to announce that three local bereavement charities were the recipients of a donation from funds gained through the crematorium industry’s Metals Following Cremation Recycling Program.
The Geelong Cemeteries Trust participates in a nationally run program that creates the opportunity to recycle all metals remaining after cremation. Any funds raised from the metals collected from the Geelong Crematorium are donated towards bereavement charities identified from within the Trust’s community.
Darryl Thomas, Chief Executive Officer says “This year we were in the unique position to have a few years’ worth of metals collected and sorted in one batch, providing the Trust with a greater than expected return for donating on to three local bereavement charities”.
Darryl added “The three bereavement charities identified by the Trust were; Hope Bereavement Care, The Compassionate Friends – Geelong Support Group, and Wombat’s Wish, who all contribute highly in the care, support and counselling of individuals and families in our community who experience loss and grief”.
Geelong Cemeteries Trust Chair, John Mitchell was pleased to be able to provide each charity with a donation cheque on Friday 20 November.
