The Geelong Cemeteries Trust is proud to once again present History Alive Cemetery Tours. The hugely successful tours combine theatrical performances with local history, and are conducted at the Queenscliff and Eastern Cemeteries. For the first time, the Western Cemetery will be included in the tours running throughout February and March 2021.
The History Alive Tours are a fantastic opportunity to be transported back in time and to learn about significant historical people from the Geelong region. Performed by actors, the tours provide a unique and insightful glimpse into the lives of several extraordinary individuals interred in cemeteries looked after the Geelong CemeteriesTrust.
Let notable figures from Geelong’s past guide you through the historical sections, visiting graves of our pioneers where storytelling and interaction with costumed interpreters will transport you and your family back in time.
Geelong Cemeteries Trust CEO Darryl Thomas says “The History Alive Tours are a history lesson like no other. They are a wonderful way to involve and educate the public of the Trust’s work. The program is very popular – we look forward to offering it again in 2021”.
The tours will operate on the following dates:
- 27th February: All-female Eastern Cemetery tour
- 6th March: A walk through Geelong’s history at Eastern Cemetery
- 13th March: Meet the City’s historic founders at Eastern Cemetery
- 20th March: Interact with Queenscliff’s pioneers
