Introducing the Lorne Cemetery Forest Memorial Walk – a natural bush setting for cremation memorials overlooking the ocean.
Set high on the northern border of the cemetery with panoramic ocean views, the new Forest Memorial Walk is a calm and peaceful space. It features an understory of indigenous shrubs and grasses nestled under a majestic canopy of remnant Mountain Grey, Messmate and Narrow-leaf Peppermint gums.
The Forest Memorial Walk is the result of careful planning and extensive botanical assessment, with detailed consideration of weed management and the environmental impact. The sensitive design incorporates sweeping paths of crushed stone and timber bridges, drawing visitors into a serene and natural bush setting. It is a perfect place for quiet and thoughtful reflection.
The Forest Memorial Walk is being developed is stages.
Stage 1 of this beautiful setting is now available for purchase, with restoration to continue for weed management and additional plantings.
Weed management and the restoration of the adjacent forest will continue over the following years to expand this walk.
Small and medium boulders, allowing for bronze or granite plaques will be installed at carefully selected locations within the walk, with single and double positions available.
Sandstone bench seats are also available at pre-placed positions or family selected.
Floral tributes are restricted to natural flowers in spiked flower containers. No vases permitted to be permanently placed at the memorial.
Cremated remains can be interred in any urn.
